Title I Program
Title I is the name of a program from the federal government that provides funding to school districts across the nation.
Title I is NOT a special education program. It is an added service to students to ensure they keep up with the expectations of their teacher for their grade level.
The purpose of the funding is to ensure that ALL students who are struggling in reading, writing, math, science and social studies can receive extra assistance at their school or in their classroom.
This funding is part of the "No Child Left Behind" Act of 2001. This type of assistance has been in existence since 1965 when President Lyndon Johnson signed the Elementary & Secondary Education Act. Every few years, this legislation is renewed with a new name and new requirements.
Linden Community Schools welcomes parent involvement in our programs & services. We want to be sure we are meeting your child's needs AND meeting your expectations. To become more involved:
* Attend our parent meetings and workshops which are designed to help you help your child.
* Stay in close communication with your child's teachers and principal.
*Ask questions about the extra help he/she is receiving.
*Attend Parent/Teacher conferences regularly. Schedule additional times if you have concerns.
*Watch for flyers and newsletters for tips.
*Fill out our surveys to help us know what your concerns are. These help us know what you think your child needs and improve our services.
